Assessment Plan
Assessment plan -
RUBRIC - peer and self assessment
The first objective ( Students will identify at least one element that two cultures have in common) will be informally assessed through teacher observation of responses to lessons in Day 1 and 2 of the unit and through the graffiti exercise in Day 2. Here students will demonstrate verbally or visually (in the graffiti exercise) if they have met the learning goal by expressing elements that the cultures, either Guatemala or Peru, have in common with their own culture.
For the last four objectives students will first assess themselves using the rubric linked above. Each student will receive a partner and review that peer's presentation. While viewing they will rate the presentation using this rubric, which will include:
-Introduction explaining the 3 questions and why they were chosen.
-Summary of the information gained through online research and skype interview (and short biography of the person they interviewed).
-Conclusion describing how this research has affected how they feel about the foreign country/culture now.
-Clear speaking voice while presenting (either in person, or in voice over if applicable)
After the peer review students will have the opportunity to revise as necessary and better the presentation. The final day of the unit students will present to the whole class. The teacher (along with the rest of the class) will assess each presentation with the same rubric used in peer assessment. This will be the final determination of whether the students have me the learning goals.
